KAYE GORDON

“NOW IS THE TIME”

Who would have ever dreamed that a = little girl, born in Gisborne, her tribal heritage Ngatiporou from the East Coast = and Rongowhakaata, New Zealand, and who at the age of 3 half years almost lost = her life from the rheumatic fever, after spending 18 months in hospital, would = grow up to have one of the most sensational voices and talents in the world.  Kaye Gordon is poised to share wit= h the world her vivacious personality and exciting vitality on stage.  Kaye’s big brown eyes, sultry looks, curvaceous body, dynamic voice and scintillating performance could be summed up in two words - “Captivatingly Sensational”.

Daughter of Doug and Nan Gordon, an= d one of fifteen children, Kaye reflects back to her younger days saying that they didn’t have much money, but that she loved her childhood so much. Lov= ing the country lifestyle and still,  she had so many brothers and sisters to play with and look up too - she wouldn’t change that for the world.&= nbsp; In addition, her parents graced the family with five adopted sisters= .

Kaye’s love and passion for m= usic and her Maori roots has always occupied a part of her heart.  Her desire to sing and learn Maori= has always been present in her life.  The late Ngoi Pewhairangi, a wonderful ambassador for the Maori peop= le of New Zealand, was always very proud to have Kaye in her Maori culture group.  Kaye performed in Ngoi’s cul= ture group to the end of her teenage years until the day came that would change = her life forever.  Ngoi recommende= d Kaye to the great late Prince Tui Teka who soon after plucked Kaye from NgoiR= 17;s culture group to coach her how to play electric guitar to be his musical director and vocal backing singer.  With Prince Tui’s group Kaye toured Australia where, upon his return to New Zealand, she remained to make it her new ‘home’.

Since then, Kaye has continued to e= xcel as a solo artist  and is often re= ferred to as Australia’s own Tina Turner or Shirley Bassey.  Kaye has done, both New Zealand and Australia, proud by appearing on national television in 1985, thus winning a number of talent shows such as Bert Newton’s ever-so-popular “New Faces”.  Kaye was chosen= for the “Judges Choice” by Mr Bobby Limb, who commented that he believed that Kaye had ‘The Gift’.  Three times winner of ‘Stars= earch’, she is considered one of the most dynamic star vocal performers in the Australian Music Industry, as well as, her Australian audience giving her t= he title Kaye is well deserving of “The Diva With Attitude”

Kaye has never ceased to amaze her = audience with her versatile vocal ability when in Sydney 1991, she won the ‘Entertainer Of The Year’ award for the Latin American Community.  Kaye has = since excelled, singing in several languages such as Malaysian, Indonesian, Chine= se, Italian and others.  Kaye has = been on highly successful tours in Indonesia, the Philippines, and <= st1:country-region w:st=3D"on">Singapore, as well as performing on ocean = cruise lines through the Pacific= Islands.  She has received standing ovations= from packed audiences at the Royal Hawaiian, proudly being backed by Del Courtney’s Big Brass Band.

In Australia, she wowed over 500 mi= llion people performing the New Zealand National Anthem at the Rugby  Bledisloe Cup Final in 2001, and a= gain even more so this July 2003. A dream for Kaye when she proudly performed th= e Australian National Anthem, at the Bledisloe Cup Telstra in 2004 people. In October 20= 02, Kaye was the only Vocal Performer chosen to represent Australia in the World Championship Performing Arts Tournament held in L.A., against 36 countries,= she proudly bought home 3 Gold Medals and 3 Best Performance trophies. Kaye sai= d, I am most proud for winning the Gold Medal and best performance trophy, in the Latin American Category”.

Kaye, now an Australian Citizen, an= d living in Sydney for some 28 years now,  has not ca= used Kaye to forget her own people - she always makes herself available to raise funds for their charity functions.  She is loved and admired greatly by not only her own people in Australia<= /st1:place>, but by people from all walks of life and different nationalities.  Kaye is extremely well known by ma= ny people in Australia<= /st1:country-region>, for her kindness and willingness to help charitable organisations particula= rly those concerning children and animals. A gift that his been enspired since a little girl growing up by her mother Nan= and Father Doug. Kaye’s entire childhood involved having a mother who constantly worked with, sheltered and helping children from disadvantaged family situations as well as a Father who helped youth regain their confide= nce and self worth by taking them in on the farm and giving them hope for their futures. In the early 80’s Kaye discovered that singing to children, singing to raise funds for children, and singing with children and for anim= als, are some of Kaye’s greatest loves and passions. Her life time mission before she leaves this earth is to raise funds to help make this a better w= orld for all, years after she is gone,  by utilizing her voice and abilities to raise funds for a worthy International Charity organisaton.

Throughout Kaye’s entertainme= nt career, she has been associated with some amazingly talented stars and personalities.  Following her = early vocal tutoring by one of Australia’s best, Mr Neil Williams, Kaye has had the privilege to be vocally coached by= one of the finest in Ame= rica, the late Ms Vivienne Greene-Hoyt.  Ms Greene was the vocal tutor at Paramount Studios, Hollywood and mother of Suzzaye Greene = of ‘The Supremes’.  K= aye feels very honoured to be amongst the list of Ms Greene’s students su= ch as Vanessa Williams, Thelma Houston and many other renowned Black American Stars.  As a consequence, Kaye= has been associated with some of the greats like Ray Charles, Reggie Dozier, Gl= adys Knight, The Holland Brothers of Motown, Brian and Eddie Holland, Al Jarreau, and the backing musicians for Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Barry White= .

One of America’s foremost Mus= ical Arrangers, Mr Benjamin Wright, has written the music to and produced the ‘Message Song’ that one day is Kaye’s dream to launch to = the world, to not only launch a very powerful message to the world, but utilize sale of the CD to raise millions of dollars for the fortunate Charity Organisation chosen.  Benjamin= has arranged music for the likes of James Ingram, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Paula Abdul and most recently, Toni Braxton, Destiny’= ;s Child, Justin Timberlake and more. As a consequence, Kaye feels extremely blessed to have become a very close friend of his over the years.  Benjamin believes very much in Kaye’s wonderful talent - so much so, he is always putting original material aside to hopefully record Kaye one day soon.

Kaye feels that she definitely has = a lot to offer her own people in New Zealand and her fellow Australians, however, she knows and believes that her mission whilst on this earth, is to share her amazing gifts and talent and utilise them to raise an abundance of funds fo= r a worthy Charity organisation that help children and the world.

Kaye’s endless work with Char= ities all around Australia and the world, as well as her amazing achievements in = the entertainment industry, earned her the greatest honour that could ever be bestowed upon an Australian Citizen and that is to be “accepted”= ; as a nominee for ‘Australian Of The year Award’ 2004. Although Kaye works with many different Charities, she is a very proud Sydney CBD Rotarian here in Australia.

Getting to this stage of Kaye’= ;s career has not been easy by far.  As a single parent to her beautiful son James, now 22 years old, Kaye has succe= eded in her amazing journey by her unwavering faith in God, absolute determinati= on and courage, her conviction not to give up, and a strong belief in why Kaye= has been given, the gift to sing and entertain.  Kaye has weathered many a storm in= her life, however, her wonderful attitude to life has enabled her to pick herse= lf up and start again.  Because of this, Kaye has chosen to allow every unfortunate experience in her life, te= ach her to make better and wiser choices in her daily life and become a much sm= arter businesswoman and entertainer.

No matter how successful Kaye is in= her career from that point on, she will always be recognised as one of New Zealand’s and Australia’s, most wonde= rful achievers, thus being always an inspirational role model to many of our you= th, of today.  If the little girl,= from the East Coast, Gisborne can make it, then so can any of them.  “It’s not about being lucky.  It’s all about believing in yourself, giving it a go, having faith and not giving up”= ;.

Kaye has never ceased to amaze and = satisfy her audience as she believes that singing and performing is a special form = of communication between artist and audience.=   She shares her love and passion for her music with all people - successfully touching hearts and pleasing those who hear her amazing voice = and witness her dynamic performance.  Kaye’s vivacious personality and invigorating vitality commands the respect of all who have the opportunity to see her perform.

Even though Kaye was born in New Zealand, she is equally proud to consi= der Australia<= /st1:place>, a country that she loves, her home.  Kaye’s audiences in Australia have been loyal and= have never hesitated to show their appreciation for her voice and talent.  The love, courage and conviction t= hat Kaye has always expressed in her life, has enabled her to work endless hours and months, in putting together two  tremendous projects.  O= ne being to help raise funds for the ‘children’ and the other to r= aise funds for the ‘prevention of cruelty to animals’. Kaye’s desire and passion, to help bring people and nations together is one of the main reasons
